Can we change the name from "Depression Stress Solutions International" to "Depression Solutions for International Students"? Because I'm not sure about the word "stress", it's too specific I think. Just a thought!

RE: Emilly & YQ’s discussion
It just a basic storyline of our film, but I hope the filming technical skill works. I mean the camera backward things for editing, and the colours etc. What I actually thinking about, is, what if these techniques don't work. For just in case, I think we need to have the second version for the backup. Anyway, hope Toula can help us about the filming skills.
Me and YQ is trying to find out the good software for editing, and we’ve been thinking about using the school camera or ours. Cuz they get different functions.
Anyway, it’s great to share my thoughts with you guys. : )

Emily's idea and response from Yu Qing
Response by Yu Qing
hi Emliy, i read your idea
firstly, post your thinking to the blog with your name.
secondly, my idea is like this, we can share it and discuss it...
as we told you today about the storyline, i think your idea of the guy seeing the poster and make the choice of "not seeking help" is what we want, as you said "freeze frame" when he/she leaps off the block.
but i perfer to show the post as early as she/he recongnizes her/his depression in the first time, maybe not terriable as when she/he is going to die. because the idea of "don't wait until it's too late, help is available" (from you) is important and better to show in the early film.
and then after the "freeze frame" of her/him jumping down, we play the film as rewinding back, we can see from the frame, everything backwards (realy fast) to when she/he sees the poster in the early place.
in the contrast of this two choices, i think this way of performing will emphasize the idea ""don't wait until it's too late, help is available" (from you)", what do you think?
also, i dont realy agree with the daydream idea, maybe an actualy life feeling will be more serious and imfluence audience.
anyway, i am going to post my response to you on the discussion board, and let's see other guys' thinking.
i am so glad that you send me this email...!!
cheers!!

Emilly's idea
We need a central theme - our theme can be “choice” which we will convey through;
- Compiling a series of shots of a subject (the main character) who faces daily challenges which eventually spiral him/her into depression (financial stress, grades, relationships etc)
we see him/her as he/she walks down a lonely path, passing one of our campaign posters and looks at it, thinking. Fades... - He/she makes the choice not to seek help and takes the leap off the block/bridge etc, at which point we freeze frame. Text appears, something like “until now, you had a choice.” [Black screen] “Don't wait until it's too late. Help is available” (or whatever).
- The audience is then taken back to the subject gazing at the poster, and they realise he hasn't jumped, it was only a daydream. He has decided to seek help..
The better idea we have of our film the better we will be.
About the Major Project
we starts to discuss about the concept and storyline about the film that we will made.
In our short film we needs to connect to the topic depression, and we choose to have a drama which needs someone to act in it, rather than a documentary.
My idea is about the person which suffered in depression try to suicide and the person he/she saw the poster on the wall before he/she get suicide, in there a close up shot for the poster. The reason for that is the poster helps he/she find the solution about depression or stress problems, for example to see the doctor or talk to a close friend about it.
The Poster is from our other project, but the same topic, so this film is also a way to advertise our company, which helps the International students in Insearch to get a solution if they have depression or stress problems.

Brainstorming
Documentary:
The film in the topic of depression and stress of one is always presented as a documentary. But in our project, I think documentary is too common and boring, in the following reasons: to make a documentary we need to do more difficult researches about the topic, and have to contact many people to make interviews, and it always can not finish shotting in one day (need more time); in the exhibition, students would feel boring when they are watching a documentary which may have the similar films done before, and most students would not stay more than 5 mins to watch that. Therefore, we need to make it fun!
Feature drama:
Drama would be easier to shot, will be creative with special components to make the film fun. Also, it saves time when shot, may finish in one day.
Hello! This is our task!
Our task is to post minimum of 10 entries (each person) of discussing the development of the concepts and visual/aural style of the project.
Looking forward to see your posts.

our movie idea
Finally, he/ she can not stand the pressure, and go to suicide.
Then the scene stops, and backwards to the time before he/ she suicide. The character sees the poster which we made. He/she changes the mind to go to see the psychologist to solve the depression struggles. Live goes dark to colourful. That is the brief summary of our short film.
The purpose of this short film is to persuade the target market which is the international student who is suffering in the depression problems. Our campaign is trying to help these people to walk out of the darkness.
